Susan Diane Ely passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 11, 2019. Susan was preceded in death by her mother, whom she adored, Denna Levine Ely, her grandparents, Sara Rothschild Ely and Ben Ely, Edith Spector Levine and William Levine. Susan is survived by her father, Howard Jerry Ely, brothers Robert Craig Ely and Richard Allen Ely and a large extended family. Some of Susan’s happiest moments were celebrating her birthdays with balloons, flowers and beautiful underwater photographs taken by her brother Rick, talking on the phone with her brother Rob, and enjoying her father’s visits throughout the week. The family wishes to thank Golden Acres for their exceptional care, where Susan was a resident for more than 33 years. We also wish to thank her loving caregivers, Florine Dewater, Betty Wallace, Rute Abiy, Menbere Lakew and Tsiyon Yelma. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 14, at 3:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Following the service, a shiva minyan and memorial reception will be held at Temple in Linz Hall and Tycher Gathering Space.
