Sunshine was born on May 1, 1939, to the parentage of John and Luzell Kelley in Pasadena, Texas. She attended primary and secondary school in Pasadena and received her high school diploma from Pasadena High School.
After graduation, Sunshine took a job at the local Woolworth’s store where she met Lonelle (Lee) Nolen. Lee and Sunshine were married on December 22, 1958, in Bayport, Texas. To this union two children were born, Sherry Bell of Palestine, Texas and Mike Nolen of Garland, Texas.
After moving to Garland, Texas she became a member of Buckingham United Methodist Church where she was involved in many activities. One of which was singing in the Chancel Choir. She shared her beautiful voice that lifted the spirit and brought us closer to the divine.
Later retiring from her supervisory position at J C Penney, Sunshine spent her time doing all of the things she loved. Some of which were painting by number where she won awards at the Tyler Fair for her work, traveling and karaoke.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Luzell Kelley; her husband, Lee Nolen; her two sisters, Joyce Nunez and Doris Bever; and her two brothers, John Kelley, Jr. and James (Jim) Kelley.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sherry Bell; her son, Mike Nolen; her brothers, Darrell (Micky) and Kelly (Sherry); her granddaughter, Amanda Powell, her 5 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Sunshine will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to shine in our hearts forever.
