Sue Smith was welcomed into Heaven by the Lord Jesus and brother Roy January 18, 2011. Sue was small of stature but big of heart. Sue loved to fish in White Rock Lake. She had chores to do around the yard and house. The family embraced the sport of tennis. Though smaller than most her competitive spirit led her to many successes and a scholarship at Texas Tech after graduating from Trinity Christian Academy and a member of First Baptist Church of Dallas. Sue wanted to be a Police Officer great choice! She was accepted into the Dallas Police Academy and graduated number 3 out of a class of 36. She was assigned to Northeast patrol division where she demonstrated great commitment and excellence to her duties as a street officer. For over 16 years as a Dallas Police Officer, her partners and friends cannot be numbered! In 1996, she received the Life Saving Award. What a legacy she leaves. True to the Lord always. Sue was truly a blessing and treasure to so many people. Sue leaves behind her sister, Dr. Anne Smith, parents Dr. and Mrs. John Lee Smith (Patt) and countless friends. Surely Heaven must be a more beautiful place now that Sue is there. Welcome home! A memorial registration book is available on Friday at Sparkman Hillcrest until 6pm for anyone who would like to pay their respects to Sue. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Northway Christian Church, interment to follow Hillcrest Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers: Melissa Tanner, Debbie Higgins and Cathy Stringer.
