Stuart Goodwin Potter, Jr. of Concord, New Hampshire (June 5, 1937 - October 15, 2018). Stuart, son of Stuart G. and Alice Potter, was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Brother, Uncle-in-law, Cousin and friend of many. Stuart graduated from Concord High School in 1955 and, soon after, joined the United States Air Force and became a Navigator and Radar Intercept Officer stationed in Harlingen, TX with the 3611 squadron ATC. In 1962, Stu retired from active duty, moved to Dallas, TX and finished his college degree in Business Administration at the University of North Texas in 1965. During this same time, Stu was advancing in rank as part of the Air Force Reserve at Carswell Air Force Base just outside of Fort Worth, TX. Stu was employed as a security guard at Texas Instruments working the night shift to pay for college. It was during this time Stu met and married Elizabeth Anne Mitchell, enjoying 56 years of marriage.
Stuart retired from the USAF Reserves in 2002 as a Lt. Colonel. Stu was a longtime stock broker and investment banker for Eppler Garron and Turner, then Southwest Securities and finally with his own firm, SLP Investments.
Stu loved anything and everything about flight, sports and outdoors, raising his children Stuart G. Potter III "Trey" and Kathern A. Schwausch "Katie", sleepovers with his five grandchildren, entertaining, bridge and Christmas!
Stuart is survived by his wife, Liz, son Trey Potter and daughter Katie Schwausch and her husband Rick, and grandchildren Stuart, Samuel, Avery, Elliot and Wyatt.
We will all miss Stu, dad and Papa so much, but rejoice in his release from all earthly tethers and newfound wings!
A funeral service will be held Monday, October 22, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Lake Highland UMC, with burial to follow at 2:00 PM at Everman, Texas Cemetery.
