Stewart was born in Dallas, Texas, on June 15, 1980, to Martha and Doug Lang. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1999. During high school, he played football, earned his Eagle Scout, was lead in school musicals, and a leader in the Lads & Lassies and Park Version choirs. He also enjoyed being involved with his church youth group and participating in many mission trips. Stewart went on to attend Southern Methodist University, where he earned a degree in business finance. After graduation, he worked in the banking, financial, and oil and gas industries for many years and was preparing to begin a masters program at Southern Methodist University.
Stewart was a joyful child and gifted man who was incredibly passionate about his family, friends, and many pursuits. His daughters, Charlotte and Taylor, were the lights of his life and he loved them dearly. Stewart had a wide variety of gifts and an uncanny ability to study and master any topic on which he focused. He was a talented athlete, musician, actor, well-read in literature, and loved to make others laugh - a true renaissance man. In recent years, Stewart battled with depression. Although he succumbed to this awful disease, he never stopped hoping and striving to get better. A piece of us is gone and we will never stop missing Stewart. We long for the day when we will see him again. We cling to God's promise of a future where there will be no more illness and death will lose its sting.
He is survived by his daughters, Charlotte and Taylor Lang, his parents, Doug and Martha Lang, his brothers, Brian and Chris Lang and their families, his paternal grandmother, Jacqueline Lang, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Stewart is deeply loved by his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed.
A memorial service celebrating Stewart's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the Church of the Incarnation, 3966 McKinney Avenue, Dallas, Texas, 75204.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that contributions be directed in the memory of Stewart Lang to The Menninger Clinic, Attn: Michelle Arnold, 12301 South Main Street, Houston, Texas 77035 or (877) 975-6552.
