Simon Monroe Purvis, 93, of Kempner TX passed away on March 8, 2013 in Carrollton TX. He was born in Panola County TX on Jan. 14, 1920 to Henderson and Alma Purvis. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ducksoon; daughter, Denise Lysikowski and her husband, Jurek; son, Jasper Purvis and his wife, Jessica; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Cyril Purvis and Buford Purvis and his wife Janet. He is preceded in death by his sister, Nevada Selcer; brothers, Paul Purvis and Dayton Purvis; daughters, JoAnn Margolis and Marlene Talbot.
A World War II and Korean War veteran he proudly served his country for 22 years. After his retirement from the Army he worked for the Department of Defense for 24 years. During retirement he enjoyed sitting on his back porch drinking his beer on ice watching the birds and listening to country music.
A service in his memory will be held at 6PM on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 George Bush Turnpike, Dallas TX 75252, www.teddickeywestfuneral.com There will be a visitation on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, from 5PM to 6PM at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home.
