It's been a long year without you. Every holiday, we still expect to hear your voice happily exclaiming "Happy Thanksgiving!" or "Merry Christmas!" or "Happy New Year!" The other day, while we were making dumplings for Lunar New Year, we could almost see you standing there, boasting about how you are the best at rolling the wrappings. We're always thinking of you, and we miss you and love you a lot.

Hi Esther,

We still can't believe this tragedy happened. When remembering the memories we had, we thought about the nights playing werewolf and dancing at Kung Fu Saloon. You were always laughing and we miss having your positive energy and fun personality around, especially during the more challenging work days at GS. Rest in peace.

Esther, I still can't believe its been a week. You have no idea how much I and everybody else on the team misses you. I still come in early and wait for you to come in smiling with your "Good morning!" and drinking tea from your marbled mug. I still want to swivel my chair and annoy you with all my questions. I had to move desks because I can't take it anymore, a part of me is still waiting for you to come through the door to the floor. We just had lunch and I couldn't stop thinking about EstherEats too. I hope you're in a better place now dude. You have no idea how great of a friend you were and how much you meant, to me, and everybody else. 

Even though I'm sad and angry right now, I am also happy. Happy because even if it was for such a short time, I got to the opportunity in this life to be your buddy, your rotation partner, and most importantly, your friend.

Shuangning, you will be missed forever by your family, friends and me. You are one of the most positive, knowledgeable and smart friends that I was honored to know. I can't stop thinking about the good old days when you interviewed me for your class project at Michigan, the restaurant we grabbed food together, and the laughter we shared.  When Rita told me about this, I thought it was a joke, because I could never imagine this could ever happen, especially we just had dinner in New York City 2 months ago. Ironically, we chatted about the driving in Dallas and I really wished I could make a change at that moment, and invite you to join us in New York to work, taking subways. Anyway, in the bottom my heart, god bless you in heaven, Shuangning. We will be thinking of you, and you will be missed forever.

You are such a great person with smiles on your face all the time.  As your classmate and friend, I feel so lucky to share the memory in BFSU with you.

Dear Shuangning,

I still remember the good summer days we spent in Queensland 6 years ago. You were passionate, delightful, generous and such a great mate to travel with.  I shall always remember the diving we did together, the jogging along the promenade, the gelato we shared and the laughter in the playground where we were like kids...And the last BBQ the whole class had for your new start in the US..... It is hard to accept that you left us like this...

Dear Esther,
I feel so lucky to meet you and to be your project teammate during our time at Michigan. You brought in so much happiness to everyone around you. I can't ever forget the warm smile that you always carried. 
I will always miss my friend whom I kept annoying with questions of when are you visiting NYC and grabbing a bite with me, just like old days.

I have taught PHY 106 in umich and Shuangning  was one of the best students in my class. She is a smart, hardworking and friendly girl. She always collaborate with others and help others in the class. 

It‘s a great loss for us. I feel really really sad to lose such a good student. Please allow me to give my condolence to her family. She didn’t really leave us, she’ll always live in our memory.

From the first time we met you in the training, we knew that a bundle of energy is going to be a part of our team, and we were totally right from the first impression.

For the past couple of years, you have been an integral part of all our lives - from starting our mornings with your joyful and happy "Good Mornings", to wrapping-up our days with "see ya tomorrow", from taking long walks to Starbucks and Boba Tea, to simply sitting, chatting and hearing your giggles from every corner of the room.

You were always our pillar of support and go-to person for any kind of situation. You made our ups more joyful and downs less stressful. Your kindness and happiness reflected through your actions and flowed in effortlessly into our lives. We hope and aim to continue your legacy of living life to the fullest. You will always stay in our hearts and continue to be a guiding force in our lives.

Esther was one of my very first friends at Umich. We were in the same Calc 3 class and we ended up being close. We went to the library and grocery shopping together and had our ritual of meeting up at East Quad for lunch every week. All of these things we did together were so vivid and yet not just in a form of flashbacks. Esther and I used to switch our apartments so I lived in her dormitory in Northwood for a month. The furnitures were arranged in the way she liked them, and her stuffs were scattered all around. It kinda felt like I had lived a life in her shape for a month. We have had our misunderstandings and arguments but those aren’t something that I wish to be erased either. I admire her for always being so engaged and had such a healthy level of energy. We weren’t ever best friends but Esther had played a role in my life in the US. When life becomes a memory, and memories become alive too. You will not ever be forgotten, Esther, may the purest soul of yours always be blessed.

Esther, I remember your smile and your kindness. You really made an impact on people around you. You brought good vibes. I'm so lucky to have you as a colleague, a friend, to have had the chance to know you and learn from you.

I'm really saddened by what happened but it doesn't take away your influence on our life. You live on in our hearts.

My thoughts, deepest sympathies & condolences are with Esther's family and friends.
