Shirley Marie Mitchell

Shirley Marie Mitchell, 84, of Sweet Home, Texas. She was born on January 21, 1939 to Georgia Mitchell and Vasey Mitchell. She was called home to be with the lord, Monday, September 11, 2023 at 9:11pm.

She attended Hallettsville Colored High School. After that she then moved to Houston, Texas with her oldest son and had another son while staying there. Later in life she ended up moving to Dallas, Texas; where she became an active member of Eagle Nest Family Church in Dallas, Texas for many years and had an active role in her church. She was strong willed and stubborn at times, but she also had an enormous heart and a great sense of humor. Shirley took on many passions throughout her life. She was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all her life experiences. She was employed at Texas Instruments Incorporation for over 25 years. After leaving TI, she then proceeded in a new career of starting her own real estate company where she devoted much of her time and energy into her company.

Shirley is preceded in death by her mother Georgia Mitchell, father Vasey Mitchell; 2 brothers: Vasey Coke Mitchell Jr. & Clifton Mitchell; 3 sisters: Emma Godley, Georgia May Watson, & Maria Craft; and grandchild Markievn Mitchell.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memories her 2 boys: Dennis (Butch) Mitchell (Wife: Aline), James (Jimmy) Johnson (Wife: Evon); 7grandchildren: Dennis Bernard Mitchell (Laliya), Contessa Hillary-Gilliland (Tommie), Shateikia Rollerson-Miles (Charles), James Johnson II (Vicki), Latonya Searcy (Paul), Jameilla Gadsden (Bryan) and 24 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren. Her sister Bobby Jones (Evans) and brother Marvin D. Mitchell. And I mean a host and I mean a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
