Shirley C. Diaz, 76, with her loving children and grandchildren by her beside went peacefully to her heavenly home. She was born to Jesse and Jesuscita Vela in Dallas, Texas. Shirley graduated from Crozier Tech High School. She is survived by her devoted and beloved husband of 57 years the Rev. Frank Diaz. The family will receive friends at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 2011. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2011 at Sparkman Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel with entombment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 30th at El Divino Salvador Presbyterian Church, 8822 Angora St., Dallas, Texas. Along with her husband, she is also survived by son Frank Diaz, Jr. and his wife Terri, sons David and Larry Diaz, son James Diaz and partner Cody Kendrick, daughter Patricia Diaz, daughter Elizabeth Lara and husband Frank; grandchildren and great-grandchildren Lauren and Leah, Sara and her husband Manuel Soto, Issac, Ivan, Emily and her husband Christopher Alvey, Damien, Jacob, Joshua and Faith Diaz, Lindsay and husband Brandon Kuhlengel, Carson, Nathan, Shawn Diaz and wife Jana, Reilly, Dezerae and Danyelle. Her sweet smiling, loving compassionate ways will be missed by all. She was a member of El Divino Salvador Presbyterian Church, Dallas. She served at the national headquarters of the PCUSA in Louisville, KY for 10 years as an administrative assistant in the offices of Hispanic ministries. Frank Ehman.
