Sharon Ann Singletary Kraus, age 76, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023, in Carrollton, TX while in hospice care. She was born on November 17, 1946, in Dallas, TX to John and Mary Sue Singletary. Sharon was raised in Dallas, TX, and graduated from North Texas State University in 1970 with a degree in Music Education. She would later go on to earn a Master’s degree in School Counseling. She married Richard Kraus in 1972. They were married for 17 years and liked to travel together. The two had no children. Sharon was a teacher and School Counselor for the Dallas County School District for more than 47 years.
In her spare time, she enjoyed attending musical theater, reading mystery novels, playing piano, and singing at senior facilities. She belonged to the Community Chorus and the Starlights Chorus group. She so enjoyed singing and playing for her church and senior community. Sharon belonged to the Dallas Summer Musical Guild and was a member of the Board of Directors for a time. Sharon was a 48-year season ticket holder of the theater. In her own words, “The live theatre experience is like no other”. She also belonged to and was an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a professional society for Women Educators. Her family and friends will always remember her as a loving Christian woman. She was incredibly charitable towards the organizations she kept dear to her heart.
Sharon is preceded in death by Richard Kraus (husband), John Singletary (father), Mary Sue Buckner Singletary (mother), Donna Singletary Gross (sister), Greg Gross (nephew), Jeff Ballentine (nephew), and Karen Wadsworth (niece). She is survived by Tim Gross and wife Kerry (nephew & niece), Jeff Gross (nephew), Tammy Anthony and husband John (niece & nephew), Darren Gross (nephew), Kerry Don Gross and wife Christy (nephew & niece), Ellen Ballentine (niece), Elsie Ballentine (sister-in-law), Tracy Wadsworth (nephew), Laine Collins (great-niece), and Tanner Wadsworth (great-nephew).
