Sharon Elizabeth Jones

Life in Jamaica for Sharon was full of joyful times with school friends and family trips to Saint Elizabeth Parish. There she spent summers with her grandmother and numerous cousins who were also there to spend time away from the city, learning how to work the gardens, have fun, and unbeknownst to them, create lifelong bonds.

In the winter of 1974, Sharon went on holiday to Cleveland, Ohio, not realizing this trip would change life as she knew it. As a young immigrant, Sharon adapted to her surroundings well, and again, made new “lifelong” friends. She graduated from Cleveland Heights High School and went on to pursue higher learning at Ohio State University. While at Ohio State, one of her memorable moments was pledging Delta Sigma Theta.

Sharon had many passions in life; one that resounded through each stage of her life was caring for people. She began in high school working at Happy Nursery School as a teacher’s aide. By the time she left for college she was assisting the director of the school. After college, Sharon returned to Cleveland and worked in transportation with the Cleveland Board of Education, for almost 20 years. She then moved on to dedicate her time and efforts caring for adults with developmental disabilities at Jewish Family Services, a non-profit organization. She passionately managed Grand and Terrace House within the organization.

Sharon loved people almost as much as she loved the Lord. She gave her life to Christ and was baptized at Christ Temple Apostolic Church, Cleveland, OH., where she relished in God’s word weekly. Sharon thoroughly enjoyed fellowshipping with everyone. Each holiday was a big production at Sharon’s home. Family and friends were invited to come by for food, fun, games and spirited conversations…. All who came were encouraged to “live life to the fullest, for tomorrow is not promised;” and you’d better, “take a plate!”

As time moved on, Sharon struggled with numerous ailments but they never dulled her spirit. She knew when her time here was coming to an end and she made sure to shower everyone with “I love you.”

On April 3, 2021, Sharon went from labor to reward, into the loving arms of Jesus.

Sharon is survived by her mother Daphne; sons Kristopher Bouviér (daughter-in-love Samantha); Kameron Brown; grandchildren Savion and Saliyah Bouviér; sisters Camille Smith (Robert), Marsha Tidmore (Norman), Elle Esse Pond (Thor); and a plethora of nephews, nieces, cousins, family members and friends.

Sharon is preceded in death by her father Ronald, Sr. and her brother Ronald Jr.
