After retirement, Sandra spent the next 25-plus years helping others by volunteering, serving in Kindred Hearts, a Lavon Drive Baptist Church ladies ministry, and traveling in the US and abroad, including a mission trip to Ukraine. Always up for an adventure, making memories and looking for treasures, likely a special rock! She was a gardener, an artist, a vocalist, a great decorator and a Santa Claus (and rock) collector.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 64 years, Freddie Vaughan, and daughter Sherri Vaughan of Frisco, Texas; sister Alma Kessel of Connecticut, sisters-in-law Julia Ahlfinger and Carole Vaughan and brother-in-law, James Vaughan. Sandra loved and cherished her nieces, nephews, cousins and second cousins from the King and Vaughan families, and her countless friends. Sandra is preceded in death by her precious daughter, Karla, son-in-law, Jay Mooneyham and her parents. The family is forever grateful to the care providers from Helping Hands Hospice and Nola's Hands Caregivers.
If you prefer to donate, In lieu of flowers, Sandra raised funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for many years and remained a supporter, in memory of her daughter Karla.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.laurellanddallas.com for the Vaughan family.
