San Juan (Johnny) Rivera was born February 1, 1956 and passed away to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. He had struggled with complications from diabetes for many years, but is now free from pain and suffering.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Josefina Rivera, sister Irma Rivera Hernandez and first wife Diane Ramos Rivera. His survivors include sisters, Olga Rivera Esparza and Anna Rivera Cavello & husband David Cavello. He also leaves behind his loving wife Joy Lynn Johnson Rivera, daughters, Jessica & husband Luis Mireles, Marissa Rivera & fiance Robert Campbell, Irma Rivera & husband Abraham Alonso, sons, Paul Rivera,Johnny Rivera and step-son, Phillip Day. He is also survived by his Cedillo children that he helped raise: Alfonso, Melissa, Alfredo and Melanie. Johnny was blessed with fourteen grandchildren and several step-grandchildren that kept him young at heart and will forever have a piece of him in theirs.
His girls learned to cook like his mother and he sure enjoyed eating. He taught his sons about mechanics, repairing and building so he left them with a lifetime of knowledge and survival skills. He loved aggravating his loved ones and making them laugh although he could be a serious debater at times. He loved music of all kinds and could sing like the best of them. He used songs to convey his heart when he couldn't find the words. He loved dancing throughout his life; even when he couldn't feel his feet, Jesus moved them for him. He enjoyed his time at home with his wife. If he could have been with her every minute that’s the way it would have been. He adored time with family and looked forward to every meal with them. He loved life in general and poured out his love to his entire family. If you belonged to him, you never had to wonder if he loved you.
He leaves behind a whole host of relatives, friends and acquaintances that will share memories for years to come. Johnny will be cremated for now and services will be held on his one year anniversary to be announced at a later date.
