Surrounded by the love of his family and friends, God called Samuel Thompson home November 5, 2017. He will be remembered as a kind, caring, loving gentleman. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a God-fearing man. He was a member of Meadow Hill Baptist Church, where he served as Pastor from 1983 to 1999. All who had the privilege of knowing him, whether personally or professionally, can salute a man of great intelligence and wisdom. He touched many people’s lives. He gave to senior citizens and the homeless. To him, everyone mattered. He will be missed by all those who loved him. Samuel Thompson was born in Paducah, Texas, November 16, 1941. He attended Dallas Public Schools and was a graduate of James Madison High School, Class of 1960. He attended Bishop College and graduated from Southern Bible Institute. He served four years of duty in the United States Marine Corps, stationed in Camp Pendleton, California. He was employed with and retired from Dallas Area Rapid Transit with 35 years of service as a bus operator. Samuel and Onia Thompson were married August 27, 1967, and to this union, two children were born: daughter, Kimberly Thompson, and son, Reginald Thompson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Philip Thompson and Naomi Thompson; and sister, Darlene. Samuel leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Onia Thompson of Rowlett, Texas; daughter, Kimberly McGill (Reginald) of Fate, Texas; son, Rev. Reginald Thompson of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter, Kennedi Johnson of Fate, Texas; two brothers, Rev. Herbert Thompson (Gwen) of DeSoto, Texas, and Charles Thompson (Johnnie) of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Louise Duncan (Abe) of Compton, California, and Loubria Morrow (Louis) of Dallas, Texas; stepmother, Clara Thompson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a special friend and caregiver, Mildred Robinson of Dallas, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
