Ruth Garcia Andrade, 86 was born July 18, 1936, to Refugio and Paula Garcia in Gonzales, Texas. She Graduated from Temple High School and later married Nieves P. Andrade on June 5, 1960. The couple resided in Midland, Texas until 1979, after which they relocated to Lyford, Texas. They enjoyed 34 years of marriage, during which they lovingly raised four children: Mark, Nick, Melody, and Christopher.
Ruth was very active in her local religious community, lending her beautiful voice to the choir, contributing to Sunday school classes, and engaging in many other fellowship activities. Her professional endeavors included serving as a kindergarten teacher and as an elementary school secretary to the principal.
Beyond her commitment to her family and faith, Ruth delighted in various community events and sports teams like Midland Cubs and Texas Rangers baseball, and especially her beloved Dallas Cowboys football team! She was renowned for being a fantastic hostess, and for her wonderful cooking and baking. Ruth’s specialty was her millionaire pie. Her joy in preparing this delectable pie was perhaps exceeded only by her delight in saying the word “millionaire”.
Ruth was distinguished by her impeccable taste in clothes, and her enduring cheerfulness. She was known for her sweet nature, her patience, and her kindness to everyone she had the privilege of getting to know. Her love for travel led her on adventures to Europe with her dear friend, Jane Lombardi, and to the Holy Land in Israel, where she was baptized in the River Jordan. One of her deepest sources of happiness was her grandchildren, and she relished preparing them care packages, and always eagerly awaited their visits together.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents Refugio and Paula, her late husband Nieves Andrade, her son Nick Andrade, and her siblings Juan and wife Darlene Garcia, Rueben, and wife Susan Garcia, Ephriam and wife Ginger Garcia, Joey and wife Martha Garcia and sister Esther Garcia.
She is survived by her children, Mark Andrade, Melody and husband Bill Mahony, and Christopher and wife Natalie Garcia, as well as her sister Elizabeth Garcia. Her memory will live on through her grandchildren Adam and wife Katey Fetch Andrade, Nicholas and wife Danielle Andrade, Joshua Andrade, Ellie Mahony, Scout Mahony, Colton Mahony and Maya Gela Garcia. She is also cherished by her great-grandchildren Avery Graham Andrade, Ethan Blair Andrade, Ava Andrade, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
