A "good old boy" from Campbell, Texas died April 8, 2011. He always felt a deep affection for that town and its people. Rob was born October 14, 1937 in Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Jewell; siblings, Wylie, John Al, Betty Zue, Kathleen; and wife, Jeanne White Reeves.
Rob is survived by his sister, Margie Backus; 3 children, Robin Compton, Roger Reeves and Ronda Reeves; ex-wife, Barbara Reeves; 3 stepchildren, Paul Dalton, Jan Muhsmann and Brian Dalton. Also survived by three beautiful grandchildren, Chandler Reeves, Carly Compton and Connor Compton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rob graduated in 1959 from East Texas State in Commerce, TX and achieved a Lifetime Teaching Certificate and began teaching history & geography at Dallas’ Adamson High School.
In 1962, he enrolled in the Enco Gas training program and opened his first service station at the corner of Kingsley and Audelia Rds. in Lake Highlands. He remained there for six years and had many loyal customers that appreciated his honest character to service the needs of their vehicles. In 1968, he was approached by Shell Oil and opened another service station on the opposite corner and remained there for two years.
In 1971, he became the General Manager of Miars Car Care Center on Lemmon Ave. and remained there until 1987. He opened his own Texaco Service Station on Miller Rd. in Garland.
In November 1986, Rob married the love of his life Jeanne White and after spending many wonderful years together in Dallas, they retired in 1996 to San Jose, Costa Rica, where they began “living their dream" and remained there for 12 years. They had a great life in C.R. and accumulated numerous friends, traveled and shared unforgettable memories all while living the life they always dreamed.
He was a loving and sweet father and will be greatly missed.
