Roy was an outstanding athlete at both the high school and collegiate levels in football, basketball and track where he won numerous awards.
In 1964 he met his soulmate, the former Bobbie Giles in Dallas, TX where a new journey began. They were united in Holy Matrimony on December 19, 1964 and from this union they shared two sons, Darryl (Dallas, TX) and Derek (New Orleans, LA).
Roy and his family became members of Greater Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in 1985 where he was a faithful member and served on the Deacon Board.
Roy was employed and retired from Cullum & Co. (Tom Thumb) in 2007. He was a proud member of the Gospel Harmoneers for 38 years, where he served as first tenor/lead singer and also served as manager in later years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Bobbie Giles-Dabbs; Parents, Vernon and Daisy Fowler-Dabbs; Brothers Claude, Virgil and Charles Dabbs; Sisters, Dessie Belfry and Marilyn Jo Jones.
He leaves to cherish precious memories, Sons, Darryl Dabbs(Donna) of Dallas, TX, Derek Dabbs(Debbie) of New Orleans, LA; three Grandsons, Drew and Drake Dabbs of Dallas, TX, Garland(New Orleans, LA); Granddaughter, Maegan(New Orleans, LA); Sisters, Margaret Brown Mildred Briscoe (Minneapolis, MN), Gwendolyn Goss and Alma Faye Foster (Dallas, TX); Brother, Albert Ray Dabbs (Dallas, TX); two Great Grandchildren, Dylan and Royce(New Orleans, LA). Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Lifelong (Friend/Brother) Lenell Jelks, members of the Gospel Harmoneers, his church family, other relatives and friends.
