Ronald D. Watts Ph.D. went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 1, 2021 in Dallas, Texas, after a prolonged illness. Ronald Watts was born on September 3, 1943 in Dallas, Texas to the late Mary B. Watts and Russell E. Watts. He is preceded in death by his brothers Sam Watts, Wayne Watts, and Russell Watts.
Ronald is survived by his son, Andrew Watts and his mother, Barbara Sartain, daughter in law, Julie Watts, and grandson, Grant Watts. Ronald is also survived by his daughter, Shelley McConnico and her husband David, grandson Austin McConnico and wife Danielle, and granddaughter Ashlyn Dean and husband Tyler; son Michael Watts and wife Stacy, grandsons Parker Watts and Gavin Watts, and granddaughters Gracy Watts and Ruby Watts; and mother to Michael and Shelley, Sandra Watts.
Ronnie graduated from W. H. Adamson High School in 1962. He went on to study chemistry at University of North Texas in Denton, Texas receiving his Ph.D in 1981. Ronnie served on the Dallas Police force from 1966-1977, where he was also on the elite Dallas SWAT unit. Prior to his retirement, Ronnie owned and operated Valley View Car Care Center serving the Farmers Branch, Texas community for over 25 years. While running his business, he additionally volunteered as a reserve police officer for the University Park Police Department for 27 years.
The funeral is being performed by Pastor Eddy Ketchersid of The Branch Church of Farmers Branch, Texas on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. Pallbearers for the funeral service are Andy Watts, Michael Watts, David McConnico, Austin McConnico, Parker Watts, and Gavin Watts.
