Rogelio “Roger” Martinez, age 47, passed away on October 2nd, 2020 in Plano, TX. He was born on March 3rd, 1973 in San Antonio, TX to Jesus Manuel Martinez and Maria Carmen Martinez. Roger was raised in San Antonio and graduated from Edgewood High School in 1992.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Carmen, and sisters Dora, Hilaria, and Gloria. He is survived by his wife Renee, son Jesus Rogue, daughter Raegan Elizabeth, sisters Mary, Delia, Lydia, Delfina and brothers Armando, Guadalupe, and Manuel.
Roger joined the Navy on June 15th, 1992 and proudly served his country in Chicago, IL where he was trained to be an electronic equipment repairman. He received the National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Award. He was honorable discharged on June 14th, 1996 with a rank of Seaman.
He was married to Renee LeGendre Martinez on January 20th, 2018. He blessed her with his son and daughter. They were married for 2 years, 8 months, and 12 days. In the short time they had together, their love for each other and faith in God was tested by trials and resulted in deeper love and greater faith. In so many ways, Roger showed that he cherished, respected, and desired to protect her. He is now and forever more her guardian angel.
In his spare time, Roger enjoyed listening to music, dancing, helping people, building and fixing things, and spending time with family. His family and friends will always remember him as a great father and friend. He was a serving person. Roger would look for people he could help. If he saw a need that he could fill, he would offer his services. He would often serve as a Sunday school teacher and the children loved him. He had a strong faith in God. That faith was an inspiration to all who knew him. He spent his last month of life sharing his faith with family and friends. You will forever be loved and remembered…. GO COWBOYS!
