Rodney Dewayne Jones is the third child of Philip Jones and Alyce (Jones) Burke born on November 1, 1959, at Walter Reed Army Hospital, Washington, District of Columbia (DC). Rodney was raised in the Anacostia area of Southeast Washington DC. He attended the D.C. Public School System maintaining life-long friendship with his infectious smile and dipples. After completing his high school GED, Rodney became a proud father of his first-born son Rodney Jones Jr at which time he made the decision to join the United States Army Reserves. Completing boot camp and advance training, Private Jones was assigned to the U.S. Army Surveillance Program, Fort Belvoir, Virginia as a drilling reservist until resigning.
Rodney was the “go-to” brother and could breakup and fix almost anything as a child with no official training. He was not afraid to maintain employment, and have worked in a plethora of jobs positions. Rodney and LaRonda met on the job in West Virginia where they resided for a few years until relocating to Texas to be closer to LaRonda's family.
Rodney was a true DC sports homie as a diehard Washington Football Team fan (formal Redskins) and LaRonda is a loyal Texas bred Dallas Cowboy fan. The two united hearts March 1, 2010. In 2016, Rodney changed his status to retirement and spent his days interacting with people and loving on his family.
… leave to mourn: his wife LaRonda, children Rodney Jr, Kelli, Kamron, Obadiah Philip, and Linda Aylce, mother Alyce Burke, father Philip Jones (Peggy), brother Philip Jones Jr (Philip III & Carl Jones), Sisters Wendy King (Norman & Norman IV), Vestina Jones, Kim Boddie and Phyllis Jones, bonus sister Sandy Bowman, 4 grandchildren Demarco, Blaise, River & Ari Jones, and a host of extended family and friends.
