Robert Ward was born on October 8, 1946 to Willie Ward, Sr. and Thelma Ward in Waco, Texas. He was the sixth of twelve children. Robert accepted Christ at an early age and grew as a member of St. John Missionary Baptist in Waco, Texas under Pastor H.K. Ross.
Robert attended A.J. Moore High School, and upon his graduation from that school, proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, Robert embarked on a long and successful career as a computer engineer. Robert married Gloria J. Miller in 1974, and they created a home together with their four children here in Dallas, Texas, after relocating from Mississippi. Robert and Gloria shared 38 happy years together before she passed away in 2013.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father, Thelma Ward and Willie Ward, Sr.; his wife, Gloria J. Ward; two brothers, Ernest Poole and Roy James Poole; three sisters, Sadie Walker, Thelma Joyce Washington and Janice Satchell; and brother-in-law Robert Satchell.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Monique Nicole Ward; three sons, Christopher D. Rollerson (Angela), Jason Ward (Michelle), and Thomas Miller; four grandchildren, Maya Rollerson, Christopher R. Rollerson, Remington Ward and Lincoln Ward; two brothers, Willie Ward, Jr. (Victoria), Milton “Ray” Ward (Adeaner); three sisters, Helen Degrate, Patricia Washington (Ben), Marilyn Hatter (Natha); two brothers-in-law, Jack Walker and Nathan Washington; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.
