Robert Raymond Wallace went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 8, 2019, in Dallas, Texas. Bob was a fourth generation Dallasite dating back to 1880. He was born on June 3, 1932. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1950. He held a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He served two years in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany in 1955-1957.
He was a successful entrepreneur, an accomplished professional Manager and experienced Corporate Director. He served for over 25 years on the Board of 12 Corporations in four industries and Chairman of the Board for six corporations. He cofounded the Sam P. Wallace Co. that became the world’s largest mechanical contracting firm. He was associated with the company for 27 years and served for 17 years as the Co-CEO. The family owned business became a publicly held company, was traded on the American Stock Exchange and operated in 48 states and 27 foreign countries. He was owner and President of the Wallace Investment Company in 1980, a private venture capital firm and then merged as a management-consulting firm. He served for over 20 years as a corporate consultant providing governing, managing, counseling professional service to all size companies in diverse industries. He was a private investor and owner of oil and gas properties and real estate properties. He was a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas and a Texas Real Estate Broker. He was active in the business and professional community and held a membership in the National Association of Corporate Directors and the American Society of Professional Engineers. He was a member of the Young Presidents Organization for 20 years and served as Chairman of the Dallas Chapter. He was a member of the World Presidents Organization. In 1980, he formed the Village Investors Club with a group of investor friends to share their business and investment experiences. This was a very meaningful fellowship for him. He was a member of the Dallas Country Club for over 50 years and was a collector of “Tennis Trophies".
He was involved extensively in many Christian activities. He was on the Chancellor’s Council and Board of Trustees at the Criswell College in Dallas. He and his wife, Patsy, established the Wallace Library at the Criswell College in honor of their children. He was on the Rosters of Lay Testimonial Speakers for the Dallas Christian Men’s Club and for the national organization of Christian Business Committee. He traveled to many cities across the country as a featured Christian speaker. He was involved with the Young Life Development Board and Gideon’s International. He was a member of the First Baptist Church for 23 years and was on the Fellowship of Deacons.
He was married to his college sweetheart, Patsy Rosser Wallace, who preceded him in death. She was from the beginning and for always his best friend.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Rosser Wallace; daughter, Tracie Wallace; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam P. Wallace; his brother, Carl P. Wallace; his mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Redmond Rosser. He is survived by his son, Reginald Wallace; his granddaughter, Alexandria Wallace; nephews, David Wallace, Preston Wallace and Patrick Wallace; niece, Ruth Wallace Henshall; three godchildren, Lee William McNutt IV of Dallas, Michelle McKee Neader of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Sara Bartos of Austin, Texas.
Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel, in Dallas, Texas. Dr. O.S. Hawkins officiating. A private family burial will be held prior to the memorial service.
