Mr. Robert Aaron Sumuel was born to the union of the late Rogers Lee Sumuel, Sr. and Elizabeth Crawford Sumuel on August 28, 1957. Robert joined Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, Tucker, TX at a young age. He later in life joined New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Fairfield, TX. He attended school at Westwood I.S.D, Palestine, TX and graduated with the Class of 1975. He attended college at Trinity Valley College, Palestine, TX where he earned a BA in Business. From 1979 to 1992 Robert served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. During that time Robert served as a Linguist fluent in Spanish, Arabic and multiple other dialects. Robert departed this life on Monday March 06, 2023 at Olin E. Teague VA Medical Center, Temple, Texas 76504. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rogers & Elizabeth Crawford Sumuel; maternal grandparents, Elzie Crawford and Mattie Morrow Crawford; paternal grandparents, Robert Sumuel, Sr. and Aressa Kimbrew Sumuel; brothers, Audrey McCallister, Rogers Sumuel, Jr., Walter Sumuel and Michael Sumuel and one sister, Helen Kimbrew Randle.
Robert is survived by his two daughters, Mechelle Clayton (Charles) of Arlington, TX & Aressa Sumuel of Wilkes-Barre, PA; two sisters, Vivian Sumuel Smith (Alvin) of Palestine, Texas and Donna Sumuel Hart (Pastor L.E.) of Fairfield, TX; one brother, Milton Sumuel of Arlington, TX; Robert leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
