Robert Hiawatha Murray was born on March 9, 1934 to the late Clinton Murray and Eva Stevenson of Milo, Oklahoma. He moved to Ft. Worth, Texas after graduating from Gene Autry High School. Robert served in the United States Army with the 489th Engineer Battalion and acquired the rank of Sergeant as a Combat Construction Non Commissioned Officer. He was Honorably Discharged in 1962. Robert worked for LTV Vought Aircraft in Grand Prairie and retired in 1996 after serving twenty-nine years.
Robert was a member of New Life Family Baptist Church. He served as an usher for many years until his health failed him. During his leisure time he loved fishing, hunting and was a Beast at Dominoes and Spades. He also enjoyed watching and talking about sports.
On May 22, 2023 Robert (also known as Bob, Daddy and Papa) began eternal rest from troubles of this earthly life. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Willie Mae Murray, one daughter Shunda Leecost (Jason), one son Robert Wilson (Lucille), Two stepdaughters Elaine Brown (Charles), Vickie Battle, one stepson Anthony Battle, Four grandchildren Miles Leecost, Carter Leecost, Robin Wilson, Robert Wilson II, seven step grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, Four sisters Ora Lee Austin, Kansas, Genny Murray, Fort Worth, Dorothy Buycks and Veola Scott both of Oklahoma, one brother Earl Pickens (Janese), Desoto, Texas, five brothers preceded him in death.
