Bob Kail of Dallas, 70, died July 8 at UTSW Clements Hospital after battling multiple medical infirmities. He is survived by his sister Anne Kail of Dallas and predeceased by his brother Sam Kail, Jr. and parents, Mary Margaret Davis Kail and Col. Samuel Goodhue Kail. Bob was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and spent his early years at his dad’s U.S. Army postings, including Cuba, where his father served as military attaché when Fidel Castro came to power. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1972 and served his country five years as a captain in the Army before returning to civilian life in Dallas’ Bluffview area. He worked in cement testing and sold clothing for Lord & Taylor. He supported the West Point Society, Sons of the American Revolution and other organizations. A wise investor, avid reader and historian, he enjoyed antiques, driving sporty cars, gardening and collecting miniature soldiers. A service celebrating Bob’s life will be 10 am, Saturday, July 20, at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd., Dallas.
