Born on September 14, 1954, in Akron, OH, to Charles and Mary Jones, Rob went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he was a proud member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
While working in the commercial real estate industry, Rob met the love of his life, Rae Von Behren. They married on January 4th, 1986, and together they raised two wonderful children, Barrett and Rachel. Rob cherished his family deeply and found immense joy in seeing his family grow with the arrival of his grandchildren.
Rob began his career with Coldwell Banker Commercial. Subsequently, he led marketing at Criswell Development Company in Dallas where he discovered a passion for dealmaking that would span the duration of his career in commercial real estate. In 1986, he founded Jones-Crowe Interests. Rob would later join Trammell Crow Company as a Senior Vice President, where he worked alongside many of his longtime friends and Phi Delt brothers. He was recognized numerous times as a “Heavy Hitter in Commercial Real Estate” by the Dallas Morning News.
In 2005, Rob became actively involved with The Rainier Companies, officially joining as a Principal in 2012. His time at Rainier showcased his remarkable talents. Working closely with his dear friends Ken Dunn, Tim Nichols, and Danny Lovell, Rob’s tenacity for dealmaking, his boundless optimism, creativity in problem-solving, and his lifelong commitment to unwavering honesty and integrity brought him a new level of fulfillment in his career.
Though his professional successes were many, Rob believed that the true measure of a man’s worth was found in relationships. “A loving family and a good circle of honest, trustworthy friends is worth more than all the money in the world,” he often said. By that measure, Rob considered himself incalculably wealthy.
Rob had a passion for people that could scarcely be quantified. Friends describe him as someone who "never met a stranger," known for his genuine and sincere interest in others and his legendary generosity. If Rob could help, he would.
Rob’s faith in Jesus guided his life and actions and lended him a perspective that, of all his blessings, his family was the more precious to him than anything else.
Rob is survived by his loving wife, Rae; his son, Barrett; daughter, Rachel; daughter-in-law, Carly; son-in-law, Harris; and his sister, Nancy. He also leaves behind four beautiful grandchildren: Max, Emma, Olivia, and Hudson, along with a large and loving extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary, and his sister, Marilyn.
A celebration of Rob’s life will be held at the Royal Oaks Country Club on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 4:00 PM.
