Robert Hernandez was born in Calvert, Texas, on June 6, 1942. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Catalina Gonzalez; father, Jose Angel Hernandez; mother, Paz Hernandez; and sister, Pauline Hernandez. Robert married Ramona Ybarra on October 26, 1959. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ramona Hernandez; children, Rachel Gonzales, Ruth Ann Gleason, Rene Hernandez and Robert Hernandez Jr.; son-in-law, Joe A. Gonzales; son-in-law, Daniel Gleason; daughter-in-law, Denise Hernandez; and sister-in-law, Dominga Ybarra; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; brother, Charlie Hernandez; brother, Guadalupe Hernandez; sister, Mercedes Salas; and brother, Marcus Hernandez.
Robert started working as a sous chef at the Bakery’s Hotel, Brookhaven Country Club. He continued his work as head chef for the Wyndham Anatole, Dallas Market Center and for the Billingsley/Crow family. He retired in February of 2011.
Robert loved to garden, and spent countless hours enjoying the fruits of his labor. He loved spending time with his family as well traveling to casinos with his wife.
