Robert (Bob) A. Briggs peacefully passed away August 17, 2021, in Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. He was 79 years old. Bob was born December 5, 1941, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At an early age he moved to Dallas, Texas, with his parents Hugh and Cris Briggs. He graduated St. Marks School of Texas and Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. After college Bob volunteered for the Army National Reserves. He started his career in New York City as a trader on the NYSE. Over the years he was involved in various business interests, but ultimately finished his career working with his father, Hugh Briggs, in the oil and gas industry. Bob and Hester are active members of St. Michaels and All Angels Church.
Bob was very involved with his family, including coaching many youth sports teams, hosting countless holidays and birthdays, family travel, swimming parties and entertaining his five grandchildren. Bob was known for his sweet smile and will forever be remembered as D-Daddy to his grandchildren. He was also known for his music collection and one never entered their home without D-Daddy playing his favorite tunes. His other interests included photography, cooking, reading, tennis and entertaining.
Bob and Hester Briggs celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 29, 2021. He is survived by his immediate family, which includes his wife Hester Davis Briggs, children John and Dawn Henderson Briggs, T.D. and Stephanie Briggs, Julia Ann Briggs and his five grandchildren, Michelle Briggs, Davis and Hailey Hall Briggs, Daniel and Hailey Briggs Scott, Stephen Briggs, and Katja Briggs.
Services will be conducted on Friday, August 27th, at 2:00 PM at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in the Chapel located at 8011 Douglas Avenue, Dallas, TX, 75225.
