Robert Bates

Robert (Bobby) Doyle Bates born July 29, 1939, passed away on January 15, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Dallas, he was a devoted Dallas Cowboy fan and always looked forward to watching them play and belonging to his fantasy football group with his friends. As an avid outdoors-man, Bobby enjoyed boating, fishing and playing golf with his family and friends. He married is childhood sweetheart Kaye and was married for 57 years. In 2004, Bobby was diagnosed with Inclusion Body Myositis which is an inflammatory muscle wasting disease. Despite his progressive and debilitating disease, Bobby remained positive and engaged in his daily life. He is preceded in death by his parents; Elmer D. and Edith K. Bates. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Kaye and their 3 children Daniel, Connie and Ron along with their families; his brother Thomas (Tommy) Bates and his family, his 3 grandchildren Brandon, Brittney and Taylor Bates and his great grandchild Abbie Bates. Funeral services will be held at Noon on February 3, 2016 at Laurel Land Funeral Home 6000 S. R.L. Thornton Freeway Dallas, Texas 75232.
