Robert Charles Acker Jr.

Robert Charles Acker Jr. (Brother Bob), 87 passed away peacefully at home in Mount Vernon, TX on April 7, 2025. Bob was born at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, TX to Robert Charles Acker Sr. and Marie Elizabeth Acker, nee Pulis on April 26, 1937.

He was baptized at Colonial Baptist Church Dallas, TX. He married Linda Jean Acker, nee Tackitt on August 16, 1957. They shared 67 years of marriage and were blessed with two children, Robert Charles Acker III and Cynthia Jean Robertson, nee Acker.

Bob graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. He worked as an electrician, a furniture salesman, and realtor. He was called to the ministry in 1968. He received his Bachelors degree from Dallas Baptist College and his Masters of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He began his pastoral ministry at Skyline Baptist Church in Dallas, TX and ended his career at Second Baptist Church in Dallas, TX. Brother Bob was driven by his desire to share Jesus with the world.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife Linda, his sister Katherine Riddle, his children Robert Acker III (and Diana) and Cynthia (Cindy) Robertson (and Billy), his grandchildren Candice Foster (and Steven), Shelley Walshe (and Mike), Richard Nobra (and Jamie), Kelli Davis (and Dustin), Meredith (Mary) Meador (and Rob), Michael Acker (and Alison), Samantha (Sam) Robertson, by ten great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Acker Sr. and Marie and his siblings, John Acker, Jimmy Acker, and Susan Whirlow.

A celebration of life for Robert will be held Friday, April 11, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228, followed by a graveside service from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
