Visitation will be between 4pm to 8pm on Monday, November 27th at The Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, TX. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, November 28th, at the same location. Burial will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
Rita was born to Spaulding Francis Solar and Violet Marie Guidry on March 20, 1930 in White Castle, LA. She graduated from Donaldsonville High School. On July 29, 1950, she married the love of her life, Lloyd Raymond Zeringue (dec'd) in Harvey, LA, both of them enjoyed 67 years together before he passed away. Rita devoted herself to her husband, her six children, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes were reading, and while she was able, quilting. She loved to watch baseball, especially the Texas Rangers. How awesome it was that she was able to see the Rangers win the World Series from her hospice bed.
Preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd R. Zeringue; parents, Spaulding F. Solar and Violet G. Petty; her sisters, Betty S. Murphy, Evelyn S. McIntyre, and half-sister, Jerry Anne "Sue" Lofton; her brothers, Lloyd J. Solar, Spaulding F. "Neg" Solar, Jr, and Robert A. Solar.
Survived by her children, Pamela Z Bender (Ron), Steven A. Zeringue III (Ginger), Patti Z. Ramirez (the late Tony), Susan Z. Clark (Steven), Kenny J. Zeringue (Betsy), Donald J. Zeringue; grandchildren, Kyle D. Bender (Morgan), Kari B. Lee (Mark), Kathryn B. Carroll, Sierra Z. Jones (David), Brandy C. Erwin (Jerry), Steven W. Clark, Michael J. Zeringue (Brittany), Lauren E. Zeringue; great-grandchildren, Amelia M. Bender, Reese A. Bender, Mollie Kate Bender, Kenneth M. Bender, Kolter L. Bender, Ryder H. Lee, Wyatt P. Lee, Annelise G. Carroll, Alexandra L. Irvine (Colton), Dalton Lloyd; great-great-grandchildren, Cache Irvine and Elizabeth Irvine; by her brother CJ Solar (Ginny), sister Lois S. Clement (the late Frank), half-brother Richard P. Solar (the late Debbie), James J. Solar (Rose Mary). Rita was loved by many nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered, missed and longed for, for as long as her loved ones have life.
