Rita Marie Skalak

Rita passed away peacefully on March 11, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard, her mother and father, Frances and Francis Hanrahan, her brother, Robert and her sister Loretta. Rita is survived by her son Michael Skalak, his wife Laura, and grandsons, Aubrey and Nicholas Skalak. Rita was born August 19, 1928 in Omaha Nebraska. She graduated from Mercy High school and later married Howard Skalak. In 1966 Howard and Rita moved to Dallas. After Howard’s death in 1970, Rita worked in the office supply business, until her retirement in 1994. Rita was very active at Saint Monica Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Vocation Guild, Senior Guides and Catholic Daughters. Rita’s family would like to thank all of the caregivers and residents of Parsons House Assisted Living, as well as New Century Hospice, for their dedication in caring for Rita, and their unwavering support of the Skalak family. Services will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church, Tuesday, March 17. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30, Rosary from 10:30 until 11:00 and Mass at 11:00. Interment will be held at Calvary Hill Cemetery at approximately 2:00. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Monica School or Cistercian Preparatory School.
