He was born on August 14, 1972, in Ft. Worth, TX. Richard completed his associate degree at Brookhaven College and worked in the oil industry and retail. He was a great friend who loved fishing, watersports, and spending as much time as possible at the lakeside.
He was first and foremost proud to be the father of his two daughters, Aaryn August Sheppard and Audra Lee Sheppard, who survive him; He is also survived by brother Kevin Sheppard, half-sister Kay Darnell Sheppard, sister-in-law Karen Croxson, and niece Ada Croxson-Sheppard.
He was preceded in death by his parents Keith Darden Sheppard and Jean Maier Sheppard, his half-brother, Steven Lee Sheppard, and his grandparents August and Johanna Maier and Homer and Josephine Sheppard.
The visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on July 5, 2023, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on July 6, 2023, in the Monument Garden of Hillcrest Memorial Park.
