Richard retired in 2006 from Xerox/ACS as Vice President of Payroll. After retirement, his interest was sparked in regard to the city of Princeton. In 2011, he joined the Parks Board and then the CDC board in 2013. His continued interest in the city led him to become part of the North Texas Water District in 2012, where he served for 5 years. Richard decided to become more involved and was elected as a City Councilman in 2018. He served as City Councilman until his term ended in 2020.
Mr. Sheehan was born August 20, 1944 to George and Myrtle Sheehan in Dallas, Texas. Richard resided in multiple cities throughout his life, including Houston, TX, Littleton, Colorado, and also in Paris France. Of the many facets of education, he had achieved in his lifetime, was that of a BS from University of North Texas Denton, Masters from SMU Dallas, and a Law Degree from New York.
Richard was an avid golfer and fisherman. He enjoyed travel and gardening, and considered himself quite the master of having an immaculate yard. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life.
Richard is survived by his wife of 32 years, Pat Sheehan of the home, one daughter, Tara Mitchell and husband Bob of West Jordan, Utah; son, Kevin Smith and wife Jennifer of Oak Point, Texas; Two brothers, Lynn Sheehan and wife Celia of Zapopan Jalisco, Mexico; Robert Sheehan and wife Julie from Hickory Valley, Tennessee; Grandchildren -- Lauren Anderson, Richard Dowling, Audrey Dowling, Sarah Wright, Becca Mitchell, and Landon Smith, with Great-Grandchildren, Ian, Lindsey, Colby, and Carter; Many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 9 at 11:00 a.m. at North Cities Church, 502 Belt Line Road, Garland, TX. Service will be streamed live at NorthCities.Org. Family Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the Celebration on January 9. Internment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery, Dallas, TX.
