Richard Alan Rodden, 72, passed away at his home January 13, 2019. He was born October 1, 1946 son of the late Virgil R Marco and Bobbie N Haynes. He is survived by his sons, Travers Rodden and wife Rhea of Van, TX, Bryce Rodden and wife Tori of Lindale, TX and his 5 grandchildren Tyra, Rand, Anslie, Maddie and Constance who loved to call him Poppy, brother Ricky Marco and wife Becky of Albuquerque, NM and sister Kathy Twedell and husband David of Pasadena, CA. as well as all his wonderful extended family members of Marco and Haynes. He was preceded in death by his older brother James M Rodden who passed away at age 23.
Richard graduated from Bryan Adams High School in 1965. He served our country in the Army 9th Infantry division in Vietnam as a Combat Medic from 1966 to 1968, receiving the Bronze Star as well as his Combat Medical Badge, Paratrooper Badge and Marksmanship Badge. He later went on to work for Spectradyne Inc., a growing company that specialized in video communications and in-room entertainment for the hotel industry. He was a talented accountant and eventually went on to become Treasurer of the company.
Richard was an intelligent and laid back man who was loved by his family and friends. He was a loving father and friend to his sons, even when they tried his patience. He played soccer and softball, enjoyed bowling and thoroughly loved the game of golf.
He will be missed greatly and remembered often.
