Born on February 26, 1942, in Evanston, Illinois, to Lewis White and Cornelia Francis Jordan Heath, Dick graduated from Lyman High School in 1960 and married his first wife, Mary Anne Anderson in March 1962. He married Jinger Lee Maples on June 16, 1973, and in 2023 they celebrated their 50th anniversary.
Dick was a savvy entrepreneur. During the 1970s, Dick worked at Tri-Chem, and in 1981, he and Jinger purchased a fledgling subsidiary of Tri-Chem called BeautiControl Cosmetics. They took BeautiControl public in March of 1986, and by 1996 BeautiControl had introduced several innovative products that were being sold through a network of 55,000 independent skin care and image consultants throughout the world.
Dick worked with Campus Crusade for Christ, served on the board of the Cox School of Business, and was appointed by Governor George W. Bush to be the Commissioner of the Texas State Parks & Wildlife Department. Dick was a lifetime board member of the Episcopal School of Dallas and in 1985, played an integral role in the merger of the Episcopal School of Dallas and the St. Michael School. The resulting institution remains Dallas’ premier preparatory school.
Dick was an avid big game hunter, golfer, and wine enthusiast. He enjoyed dancing with his wife and spending time with his growing family.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Jinger Lee Heath; his son, Robert Scott ("Bob") Heath of Frisco, Texas, son and daughter-in-law, Richard Alan ("Rick") and Noele McCoy Heath of Argyle, Texas, son, Michael Jason ("Scooter") Heath of Dallas, Texas, daughter, Brittany Elizabeth Heath of Denver, Colorado, and older brother, Charles Chandler Heath; his seven grandchildren: Peyton Anderson Heath, Taylor Heath Stuart, Logan Heath Maloney, Chandler White Heath, Kennedy Lee Heath, Rosemary Elizabeth Heath, and Layla Suzanne Heath; and his two great-grandchildren, Collins McCoy Maloney and Kasen Francis Maloney.
