Richard Milton Bowlby

Richard Milton Bowlby, 86, of Dallas, Texas, passed away December 14, 2023. He was born in Middleton, Nova Scotia, Canada, on May 9, 1937. He was born to Arthur Spurgeon Bowlby and Margaret Aleene (Munro) of Nova Scotia, Canada.

His family moved to the United States in 1941. Rich graduated from high school and attended college in Minnesota.

He married Judith Ann Bowlby (Mason) on August 13, 1983.

Rich served one term in the U.S. Army Reserve, and he was honorably discharged. In his early career, Rich was a teacher and youth counselor. Then he was a self-employed handyman and worked in sales. Later in life, Rich worked at Home Depot until his retirement.

He enjoyed cooking, working on his house and traveling with Judy.

Rich is survived by his wife, Judy Bowlby, his sister Mona Olson, his children Justine Lerud and her husband Bart, Ty Lerud and his wife Cheryl, Kirsten Wright and her husband David, Denise McGill, Heather McGill and her wife Annette, Richard Robert Reed and his wife Kate, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Public visitation will be December 27, 2023 from 4 to 6 pm, at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas.

The graveside service will be a private ceremony on December 28, 2023 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
