Those we love never truly leave us. There are things death can not touch. The sorrow we feel when we lose a loved one is the price we pay to have had them in our lives. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory No One Can Steal.  My dad was the Best of the Best! My Rock,  My comfort zone, The one true person I could trust, The bond, The friendship, The protection, and most of all the safeness I felt around him.  Even though he is not here with us, I know he is heaven building his green houses and trimming all of his bonsai tress that he loved so much. I know he misses all 
you guys in the Bonsai Community!  Keep my dad with you in your hearts.  I think about all the wonderful & great times we spent with each other, for those were the best and most memorable times of my life!  Dad I love you so much and always will, this is so hard for me to understand or even accept.  I will never be the same person I was, a big part of me died  with you, but one day I will be okay. Dad thank you so
much for always loving me and standing beside me no matter what . Just know dad I will take you everywhere with me that way you will always be a part of my life and Dad save a spot for me up there I will see you again on the other side.

It seemed like Ray could get anything to grow.  I enjoyed visiting the nursery. Ray had acquired a trident I made from 60 maple whips at the auction. I was glad he won it as I knew it had a chance to thrive. At last look he had it growing like crazy melding all the little trees together. Ray will be missed for his expertise and he was such a nice and generous man. 

What a devastating loss! Ray was an integral part of that most generous community that is the Fort Worth Bonsai Society and always had a warm greeting and a broad smile every time we saw each other. I will miss him profoundly. I hope he was a great blessing to his family. He was a great blessing to me.

I was so grieved to hear of the passing of Mr. Ray Hernandez-he was one of the kind knowledgeable individuals that welcomed  me to the Bonsai Society in the Dallas area and helped plant my love particularly of Deciduous trees by being so giving of his knowledge with a first Chinese Elm with wonderful ramification of the branches that I got from him at a club show.  It was like he was adopting out a  child to a new home explaining when the tree would leaf out and when it would go dormant.  When I care for this beautiful Elm I will always remember him as a kind inspiration to someone who was new back then.

I met Ray through his membership in the Bonsai Society of Dallas.  I always enjoyed  it when he gave a  lecture at one of our club meetings.  Ray was a gentle soul and will be greatly missed.


I have spent many hours in Ray's garden. He was passionate about his bonsai trees and kind to all that visited.  He was happy to share his stories and knowledge with others. Most recently I saw him in late January. We shared an unusually warm and sunny morning together. I came home with two trees and a smile. He was happy to be up and about in the garden sun. I'm glad to have spent that day with him. I will miss my friend but his memory will live on in the trees I have from him.
