His childhood began in El Dorado, Arkansas and he left early in life to move to San Francisco, California. Ray currently has 5 siblings: Willie Brown Jr., Randy Peterson, Frances C. Peterson, Vernon Manigo, and Ivory M. Peterson. Larry Lee and Thelma preceded him in death.
Ray enjoyed being with family, having a great laugh and joking around. He always kept a smile on his face, was always cheerful and extremely grateful. He was definitely a people person and he never met a stranger. He was in several programs such as, NIAD in Richmond, California, and Southeast College where he learned valuable life skills.
Once his mother passed, he was then cared for by his Aunt Francis Alderson and her family. They provided Ray with a stable, caring environment where he continued to grow and thrive.
He later moved to Dallas with his Alderson Family where he was enrolled in Zion Hope Adult Daycare Program and he attended 4 days a week. He met friends, enjoyed playing games, and dominoes was his specialty. Ray always was the life of the party at the center. He loved to dance and put smiles on people’s faces. He loved taking long walks and he always made sure that his Aunt was secure.
Ray will be missed by his family and his loved ones; his Aunt and Caregiver, Frances Alderson, William Alderson, Andre Alderson, his best friend Walter Alderson, who preceded him in death, his siblings and other family members and friends.
We know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Ray was a believer and has always been in God’s Hands. He brought a special type of kindness to the family and a joy that will forever be missed. He was a brother, an uncle, a cousin, and a child of God.
