Ramona attended Ursuline Academy and was a 1980 graduate of Skyline High school. She studied advertising at the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1984. While at the University of Texas she was an active member of the Delta Xi chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
She began her advertising career at Dallas Business Journal in 1985. She started her career with Sprint Telecommunications in customer relations and in 1993, Ramona decided to transplant a little bit of Texas into the Midwest. She continued in her career by accepting a Program Management position with Sprint Long-Distance at their Kansas City, Missouri headquarters. Ramona returned to Dallas in 1997 and soon began working at GTE/Verizon. She was a Mary Kay independent consultant and a beloved teacher with the Dallas Independent School District.
Working with children was her passion. Her students loved her and responded well to her efforts and excelled in their learning. She was a dedicated teacher and was well suited for this career choice. She was also an avid reader and delighted in reading different types of literature as well as keeping up with current events and the news of the day.
Ramona valued her many friendships. She was a good listener and good friends were an important part of her life. She remained friends with people she went to high school with, she went to college with, and those she worked with on her many jobs, in many different states.
She leaves to cherish her memory, mother, Esterlene Johnson, and Jacqueline Nwigwe who was like a close sister. She is also survived by her uncle. Kevin Lockridge, and aunt, Deborah Lockridge, along with a host of cherished relatives and friends. She will be forever missed for her laughter, giving heart, and devotion to friends and family.
