Ralph Lewis Boyd

Ralph was born in Dallas on February 21, 1935, to John Elvis (J.E.) Boyd and Ella Mae Lievsay Boyd. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, attended Sam Houston State University and served in the United States Air Force National Guard. Ralph was married to Emma Jo Boyd in 1958; they were married 65 years until her death in 2023.

Ralph founded Lightall, Inc. in 1975 and worked there until his death.

He enjoyed watching SMU football and basketball, traveling with Emma to watch the St. Louis Cardinals and playing golf. He also loved traveling with friends to Las Vegas during March Madness.

Ralph was a catcher for the 1958 Dallas Rangers, a high-level minor league baseball team located in Dallas, Texas.

Ralph is preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jo, and his parents, J.E. and Ella Boyd.

Ralph is survived by friends and coworkers he considered family.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September, 30, 2024 at Grove Hill Funeral Home. The burial at Grove Hill Cemetery will follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ralph’s memory may be made to SMU or Sam Houston State’s athletic programs.
