Radford LeVoy Crocker, born on November 5, 1922 to Marquis and Myrtle Crocker in America, Oklahoma, passed away on March 27, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. At 16 years of age, Rad joined President Roosevelt’s Civilian Conservation Corps and then became a career serviceman in the Army Air Corps during WWII, retiring as a Major. He was a B-25 bomber pilot in the European theater during WWII. Following his service in the military, he spent several years in the apparel industry with Sidran Corporation in Dallas, Texas, followed by commercial real estate with Henry Miller companies. In the early 90s, Rad became a successful business owner in the healthcare industry. He married his wife, Patricia, on March 30, 1996. Rad and Patricia loved to travel, dance, and go to the opera. They and their friends belonged to the Trippers Dance Club. They were season ticket holders of The Dallas Opera, and supported many community organizations. Rad sold his business (SRC Corporation) and retired in 1995. Rad, Patricia, friends and family made many wonderful memories at their East Texas ranch and on their private plane with Rad’s pilot buddy, Howard Sigler, and finally on their yacht on Lake Texoma. Rad was preceded in death by his parents, two children, Gayland and Cynthia Crocker, his brother, Bobby Joe Crocker, and nephew, Homer Crocker. He is survived by his wife: Patricia; their children: Cheryl Morgan and her husband, Hal, Jim Crocker, Jerry Crocker, James Gifford and Katie Gifford; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; his nephew: Mark Crocker; his aunt: Bessie Crocker of Houston, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to express special thanks to Cathy Harris, Anthony Cook, Lupe Cabarales, Jonathan Schakel, and everyone at Seasons Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. in the large chapel of the main building, followed by a military honors ceremony, and then a reception.
