R D Wallace

RD Wallace passed away at his home in Dallas on November 17, 2015. RD was born to Gussie and Edna Wallace in Roscoe, Texas on December 22, 1925 and grew up on their farm. RD loyally served in the army toward the end of World War II. While in service in Germany RD met and fell in love with Ellen Leowsky. As soon as he possibly could, RD made arrangements to bring Ellen to America to be his wife. They enjoyed 68 years of love and devotion to each other. RD and Ellen moved to Dallas from Roscoe in 1949, where he was employed with an auto convoy service. He later joined the Ford Motor Company in their automotive plant and was an exceptional auto mechanic for his career until the plant closed in 1968. RD was a talented auto mechanic and restored many cars and trucks to show quality status in his spare time. Both he and Ellen were active members of the Dallas Area Classic Chevy Club and the Model A Club of Dallas. They also pursued many active hobbies such as scuba diving at Possum Kingdom Lake where they camped out on many weekends with their son and daughter, which inspired them to purchase a lot on the lake for a family cabin. Together, he and Ellen constructed the cabin where they and their two children enjoyed many years of boating, scuba diving, and skiing. He was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast throughout his life. RD and Roger, while in his late teens, built a race boat and were active in boat races around Texas and Oklahoma. RD and Ellen were members of Lakeside Baptist Church of Dallas.

RD is survived by his loving and devoted wife Ellen, his daughter Margie Grey and son-law Carl from Dallas and son Roger Wallace and daughter- in-law Carol from Possum Kingdom Lake. RD has four grandchildren: Farrah Grey and her fiancée Brian West of Dallas, Andrea Johnson and her husband Brandon of McKinney, Justin Wallace and his wife Tammy of San Francisco, and Sabra Hinson and husband John of Aledo. RD has five great grandchildren: Cooper and Dillon Johnson, Sawyer and Georgia Donnell, and Jacob Hinson.
