Frank was born in 1937 in Dallas, Texas to Francisco and Consuelo Garcia. Raised alongside his sisters, Tina and Lucy, he had a loving and wonderful childhood. Shortly after graduating from N.R. Crozier Technical High School in 1956, he joined the United States Navy. While on leave, Frank went to the Prince of Hamburgers with his best friend Leo Cantu, where he met the love of his life, Martha Escobedo. They were married at Trinity United Methodist Church on November 6, 1965. One year later, Frank and Martha welcomed their first child Kim. The following year, Karen completed their family.
In 1957, Frank began working at Taylor Publishing Company as a pressman. Working his way up the corporate ladder, he eventually became the Directory of Quality Assurance and Technical Services, reporting directly to the owner, Bill Taylor. During his tenure and inspired by his mentor Herschel Wren, he championed employee rights, gave employees opportunities, created the labor union, opened the East Coast plant, and made many lifelong friends. Frank was considered a “kind and true gentleman” by all who knew him and became a member of the Ring of Honor. Responsible for a multi-million dollar contract to purchase new presses, he traveled to Japan, Germany, England, Finland and Norway. Along the way, he collected boundless treasures and told stories of his adventures to his grandchildren. Frank worked at Taylor for 55 years, until his retirement in 2012.
Frank’s 1959 Chevy Impala was one of his prized possessions. Purchased off the showroom floor, the jet black paint, red interior, with glass packs, three-on-the-floor, car became a neighborhood icon.
Frank’s three grandsons, Frankie, Matthew, and Alejandro, were his pride and joy. He and Martha attended baseball, soccer, and basketball games. Both were immensely proud of the boys being in scouting and, of course, their academic achievements, community involvement, and their devout faith.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Martha of 50 years, his parents Francisco Garcia and Consuelo Garcia, his sister Lucia Girard, and his brother Frank Jr. He is survived by his daughter Kim Garcia (Raul Perez), Karen Garcia Reuland (Peter Reuland), grandsons Frankie Reuland, Matthew Reuland, Alejandro Perez, sister Ernestina Quiroga, and many nieces and nephews.
