Phyllis Lou Schwartz Seloff, a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 surrounded by family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and selflessness. Born on June 14, 1932, in Lincoln, Nebraska, she lived a long and fulfilling life, touching the hearts of everyone she met.
She raised four wonderful sons with unwavering love and dedication as well as a steady hand, instilling in them values of compassion, generosity and resilience. As a devoted mother, and mother by marriage to her daughters-in-law, she was the cornerstone of her family, offering endless support, wisdom and warmth.
Throughout her life, Phyllis gave generously of her time and energy to many causes dear to her heart. Her love for reading led her to volunteer with Reading is Fundamental (RIF), where she delighted in sharing stories with children and adults alike, and later to volunteer in the community library at Highland Springs. She dedicated many hours to volunteering at the Dallas Home for the Jewish Aged at Golden Acres (now known as The Legacy Senior Communities). She was also known for her artistic touch, sending hand crafted cards filled with thoughtful words to friends and family. She was such a great planner that there are several more months’ worth of cards to be mailed out. These acts of kindness made each recipient feel cherished and connected.
Her friends remember her as a beacon of warmth, always ready with a smile, a listening ear or a kind gesture. Whether through a phone call, a visit or one of her signature cards, she had a gift for making everyone feel loved and valued.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Ted Seloff and granddaughter Jasmine Seloff. She is survived by her brother Chick (Marsha), her four sons, Harold (Deena), Gary (Ninfa), Steve and Bob (Susan), seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and countless friends and family who will miss her dearly. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
In lieu of flowers and to continue her legacy of giving, the family requests donations be made in her honor to the charity most meaningful to you.
May she rest in peace, knowing her love and kindness will be remembered for generations to come.
Zichrona Livracha. May her name be for an eternal blessing.
