Petra Vela Ferrer

Petra was raised in Dallas, Texas. She married Henry Ferrer in 1959 and the couple had five children. She was a proud business owner. She owned and operated Ferrer Lawn Service for more than fifty years.

In her spare time, Petra enjoyed cooking for her loved ones, gardening, collecting trinkets, drawing and embroidery. Her family and friends will always remember her as a feisty, strong woman willing to go to the ends of the Earth to make others feel safe, loved and protected. She was an extremely loving and caring person.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ferrer; parents, Pedro and Nestora Vela; brothers, Manuel Vela, Eusebio Vela, Guadalupe Vela along with her sisters, Dominga Guerrero and Flora Hernandez.

She is survived by her sister, Juanita Medina; sons, John Ferrer and Henry Ferrer Jr.; daughters, Mary Ann Flores, Patricia Ferrer, Lisa F. Berreondo and her husband, Mynor; grandchildren, Monica, Michael, Faustino III, Kristina, Nicholas, Vivian and eleven great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Petra will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home, 3050 N STEMMONS FWY, DALLAS, TX 75247. A Rosary will occur Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, 3050 N STEMMONS FWY, DALLAS, TX 75247. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1111 W Danieldale Rd, Duncanville, Texas 75137. An Interment will occur Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 E Irving Blvd, Irving, TX 75060.
