Peggy Welch Messimer passed away June 24, 2016. She was born in DeKalb, Texas to parents Boyd and MaryLou Welch on September 18, 1935. She graduated from DeKalb High School in 1953. Peggy married Billy Messimer, her high school sweatheart and her “hero”. They were married 62 years. Peggy worked as a secretary to the editor of The Progressive Farmer magazine before retiring to become a full-time homemaker and mother. She was a member of Casa Linda United Methodist Church and a member of Atlasta Book Club for 20 years. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Lem Welch and sister Hazel Cunningham. She is survived by her husband, two sons and their wifes, William Boyd and Rita, Phillip Harmon and Michelle, three granddaughters Mary Kate, Rebecca, Caitlin. She is also survived by a brother James Welch and sister Wanda Rowe. Funeral service will be 10am, June 29, 2016 at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home, 10501 Garland Rd,Dallas, Texas 75218. Interment will be at 2pm at Woodmen Cemetery, DeKalb, TX. In lieu of flowers, make donation to American Heart Association or Casa Linda United Methodist Church.
