Pedro “GGPa” Soria, 87, of Dallas, TX, went to his heavenly home on Oct. 31, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was a beloved Father to his 4 children, Grandfather to his 8 grandchildren, Great Grandfather to his 5 great grandchildren, Brother, and Son to his late parents Jesus Soria and Aurora Perez Soria.
Born Jan. 18, 1935, in Dallas, TX, Pedro would grow up in Valle Hermoso Tamaulipas Mexico with his 13 brothers and sisters. (Jose Navarro Ϯ, Guadalupe Ϯ, Francisco Ϯ, Manuel Ϯ, Juanita, Maria, Jose, Hortencia, Gloria, Virginia Ϯ, Aurora, Jesus, and David)
As a young man, Pedro would return to Dallas where he would begin working as a baker. He would then go on to spend 25 years with Sears as a furniture repair man, where he would ultimately retire. Anyone who knew Pedro’s work ethic, knew that retirement was only a brief stop in the many more years of hard work. (By his own choice) GGPa would go on to start his second (third, fourth, fifth, etc.) career as an insurance salesman, parking attendant, community chauffer, home flipper (before HGTV), landlord, and Piñata maker. On top of all this, he would still find time for things like having his own lawn service, repairing blinds, and finding hidden gems (often curbside) in the form of furniture that he would then reupholster.
Even in GGPa’s later years, he could not stand for idle hands. GGPa enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, drawing and painting portraits, writing and singing songs, playing the accordion, reading, building, and learning new things. Although GGPa had many hobbies and passions, he took the most joy in being around those he loved most, his Family.
GGPa is survived by his children, Pedro Soria of Irving, TX, Pablo and Rhonda Soria of Dallas, TX, Maria and Lupe Ϯ Hernandez of Rice, TX, and Veronica and Gerardo Marin of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Laura Losoya of Rice, TX, Lupe and Alison Hernandez of Waxahachie, TX, Alex Soria of Forney, TX, Anna Hernandez of Rice, TX, Chris Soria of Dallas, TX, Anthony Soria of Irving, TX, Marissa Soria of Austin, TX, and Santiago “Santi” Marin of Dallas, TX. His joy continued with the next generation (who helped keep him young at heart) of great grandchildren Liam Losoya, Emily Soria, Ezra Losoya, Makenzie Hernandez, and Ava Hernandez.
Dad we miss you, Abuelo we Love you, and GGPa we can’t wait to play with you again in Heaven.
