Pearl was born to the late Lumpkin Early Cox Sr. and Mabel Ethel (Evans) Cox on July 12, 1923. In adulthood, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education and her Master’s Degree in Art. She became a teacher of second grade bilingual classes in South Dallas. In retirement, Pearl and her husband moved to Phalba, Texas where they enjoyed living the country life. She attended First Baptist Canton church. Her hobbies included sewing, working in her garden, traveling within the states and abroad visiting family. She also enjoyed sharing those memories with family and friends after returning home.
Pearl was an educator at heart, she always had time to answer a question or solve a problem. Her family will remember her for her total honesty in every situation. She was a woman with strong faith in Jesus and she enjoyed sharing that faith with her friends and family. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.
Pearl is preceded in death by her sisters; Nancy (Cox) Wobser and Margaret (Cox) Robbins, her husband J D Simmons Jr. and her son Jeffrey D Simmons. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Lorraine Simmons, three grandchildren; Deanna Kay Simmons Blackwell and husband Sean, Dean Simmons and wife Misty, Kyle Simmons and wife Kayla, nine great grandchildren; Jessicca, Chad, Eric, Alexandria, Brandon, Isaac, Rebecca, Trent, and Evelyn, and one great great grandchild, Finley.
Funeral services will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas on Monday, August 6th at 10am. Pearl will be buried at Laurel Land Memorial Park with her husband following her funeral service.
