It is with great sadness that the family of Paul G. Spero announce his death on June 17, 2011. He was born in Jamestown, New York, to Albanian immigrants Gust and Kristina Spero. Paul’s passion for technology started at age seven when he was awarded a radio after having his appendix removed. By age 10, he was fixing radios and known as the young radio repairman or “Sparky.” After graduating from Jamestown High school, he attended Pennsylvania Military College where he was a cadet officer and graduated as a distinguished military graduate with a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering and a regular commission as a 2nd LT. Paul served 24 years in the Army where developed and introduced new technology for the protection of the U.S. and for the sake of human kind. During his time in the military, Paul also earned a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Quantum Physics from Stanford University. Instead of attending war College and having command of a primary organization to be promoted to the position of General Officer, Paul decided to use his talents and expertise learned in the army and life, into industry. He retired as a decorated full-bird colonel. He went on to be Senior Vice President and General Manager of Operations for UTL Corporation and then President of Wande Incorporated until he retired in April 2008. Paul was a great father, husband, brother, friend and role model to all that knew him. His greatest mission in life was his commitment to his family and God and to use what he had learned to help others. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends in Dallas, Jamestown, and across the world. Paul leaves behind his loving wife of 24 years, Kathy, his devoted daughters, Kimberly and Waverly (and her husband Kelly), and his wonderful sisters Violet and Catherine. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 22nd at Sparkman-Hillcrest. Friends and family will be received between the hours of 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 23rd at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, followed by a burial service at Sparkman Hillcrest and a Celebration of Life at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church.
